Evidence-based aromatherapy for fungal infection in followup care services

On Monday, December 13, 2021, Sophie Gattefossé-Moyrand, awarded a 2021 grant to the Aroma team at the Munster’s hospital.

Since 2016, the team has been trained in aromatherapy by a qualified aromatherapist nurse from the nearby Colmar hospital. Valerie Matter, a caregiver, has implemented a protocol in 2017 to treat fungal infections.

An observational study (with photos) during 3 years on 25 patients showed the clinical effectiveness. The results were positive for the patients and convinced the doctors.

The grant will allow the development of this aroma protocol for treating fungal infections in home care and also will fund an information meeting for the patients’ physicians.
