Clinical Aromatherapy Under the Spotlight with the Gattefossé Foundation
From October 15 to 18, 2025, Rio de Janeiro hosted the 3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine (WCTCIM) — the world’s leading event dedicated to advancing global health through integrative approaches.
Since 2008, the Gattefossé Foundation has been a key player in promoting clinical aromatherapy as a complementary approach to patient care and we are proud to shine a spotlight on it during the WCTCIM Congress.
Opening Ceremony
On October 15, Delphine Marchaud, Director of the Foundation, has been invited to present our missions and support programs at the Opening Ceremony — a unique opportunity to highlight the role of clinical aromatherapy on the global stage.
Clinical Aromatherapy in Integrative Care: Global Perspectives and Practices
On October 16, the Foundation hosted a dedicated 90-minute session, bringing together three international researchers and practitioners to share their clinical experience and insights.

– Rhiannon Lewis – Director International Clinical Aromatherapy Network, France
Rhiannon is a member of our scientific board, she will chair the session, setting the scene with an overview of the international use of aromatherapy in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
– Dr Sally Moorcroft – Integrative & Functional Medicine Doctor, UK
With over 20 years of clinical experience, Sally integrates evidence-based complementary therapies — including aromatherapy — into primary care to support patients’ overall well-being. She is passionate about advancing integrative healthcare, bridging conventional medicine with safe and effective complementary approaches.
– Dr Claire Chauffour-Ader – Palliative Care and Oncology Physician, France
Claire integrates aromatherapy into oncology and palliative care, supporting patients with essential oils to help manage symptoms, improve comfort, and enhance quality of life. Her work illustrates how clinical aromatherapy can bring tangible benefits to patients facing complex treatments and conditions.
-Dr Denise Tiran – Midwifery lecturer, UK
Denise is an internationally renowned authority on complementary therapies in maternity care. She has supported numerous maternity units in the UK and internationally to safely integrate aromatherapy into midwifery practice — improving care and well-being for mothers and babies.
Our mission is fully aligned with the WHO’s new strategy for 2025–2034, which aims to build evidence-based medicine that integrates these complementary approaches.

The Congress was organized by the Brazilian Academic Consortium for Integrative Health (CABSIN), the European Society for Integrative Medicine (ESIM), and the International Society for TCIM Research (ISCMR).
