The association
The Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT) is an American association founded in 2021 by researchers, academics and aromatherapy practitioners. Its mission is to promote rigorous standards for the writing and evaluation of scientific literature in aromatherapy.
As part of this initiative, ARQAT has developed an evaluation tool specifically for clinical studies in aromatherapy: the TREATS (Transparent Reporting for Essential Oils & Aromatherapeutic Studies) checklist. This tool aims to improve the quality of scientific publications.
An article written by ARQAT members presents and illustrates how to use this checklist.
The Foundation supports this initiative and is funding open access to this article, so that as many professionals as possible can improve their understanding of the quality criteria for an article and enhance the rigour of their clinical research writing.
