The Gattefoss\u00e9 Foundation is a corporate foundation. Gattefoss\u00e9 is the last name of the family that created the business company. This foundation pays tribute to one of the company\u2019s funders, Ren\u00e9-Maurice Gattefoss\u00e9, who pioneered modern scientific aromatherapy using essential oils for medical applications in the early 20th century. At the time, the company sold ingredients for perfumery, including essential oils. This man discovered the antiseptic properties of lavender essential oil and convinced hospital doctors to use his formulas to fight certain infections. He is the author of numerous publications and is behind the neologism \u201cAromatherapy\u201d, which became a common word after the publication of his book of the same name in 1937.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2008, the Gattefoss\u00e9 group (www.gattefosse.com<\/a>), supplier to the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, created a public interest corporate foundation. At the heart of integrative medicine, the Gattefoss\u00e9 Foundation is pursuing the philanthropic vision of Ren\u00e9-Maurice Gattefoss\u00e9 by encouraging the use of aromatherapy as a complementary therapeutic approach to improve patient care.<\/strong><\/p>

The Foundation encourages research to understand the therapeutic value of essential oils, values the practice of clinical aromatherapy and supports the advances in integrative health to better prevent and cure diseases.<\/p>

The Gattefoss\u00e9 Foundation is the only philanthropic organization advocating for the use of essential oils as a complementary therapy within a more holistic and personalized integrative healthcare model.<\/p>

Recognized by international networks of professional clinical aromatherapy associations, the Foundation is an integral part of the integrative health ecosystem.<\/p>
