Essential oils in medical intensive care unit

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Sophie Gattefossé-Moyrand awarded a grant of €5,000 to the medical intensive care team of the Mulhouse Sud-Alsace Regional Hospital Group (GHRMSA) to support a clinical study on the contribution of aromatherapy in the prevention of delirium occurring in certain patients.

This clinical study, very innovative, is prospective, monocentric, randomized in double blind. The essential oils (or vegetable oil) are applied to the arch of the patient’s foot three times a day. It is conducted by a clinical research group composed of physicians and caregivers trained in aromatherapy. The study began in September 2020 and is expected to continue until 2023 for the inclusion of 260 patients.
